Proposal and registration as Guest Editors for Special Issues - Guidelines

Guest Editors

Guest editors play a vital role in acquiring content and leading the review process for special issue publications. You can become a guest editor by submitting a proposal for a “Special issue” to the Editor in Chief of IJAHLS journal. The Editor in Chief will approve or reject after consulting with the Editorial Advisory Board.

Proposals for Special issue

IJAHLS welcomes proposals throughout the year for publishing special issues devoted to a specific topic of philosophical interest. Proposals should be submitted by the prospective guest editor(s) directly to the Editor in Chief email address: ijahls.editor@gmail.com (or) editor@ijahls.com.

Each proposal should include the following information:

• Guest editors: names, affiliations and contact details
• Topic of the issue
• Number of Articles to be pusblished:(Minimum 5 articles)
• Expected date of completion: the date by which the guest editor(s) will deliver the final manuscripts in .doc or .docx format
• Rationale: A short text explaining why the topic is considered appropriate for a special issue
• Expected contributors: a list of prospective authors who will contribute to the issue. For each author, the list must include,
         •The topic of his/her contribution, his/her affiliation.
•Indication of whether or not the person in question already agreed to submit a paper for the issue.

Guest editors should keep in mind that:

• The journal publishes only original contributions, which has not been published before and are not being considered for publication elsewhere
• The journal does not publish conference proceedings as a special issue. Proposal registrations regarding conference proceedings can be found at

Roles of Accepted Guest Editors

If a proposal is accepted, the guest editor(s) will be required to provide all the materials for that issue, including copyright transfer forms, within the agreed deadlines, to proof read and check for plagiarism all contributed articles and to make sure that authors do the same in a timely fashion. Failure to comply might result in delaying or cancelling the issue.

Selection of papers

The guest editor is responsible for ensuring that the peer review process is fair and timely. The selection of articles should be based on the scientific quality of the content and the topic should clearly fall within the scope of the special issue and the journal hosting it. There are no limitations in number of articles to be published as special issue provided an issue should contain minimum 5 articles.

Selection of reviewers

The guest editor should select reviewers who have suitable expertise in the field and must review all disclosures of potential conflicts of interest made by reviewers in order to determine whether there is any potential for bias and to avoid the selection of fraudulent peer reviewers.
Research articles must typically be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers, and where necessary the guest editor may seek additional opinion.

Journal metrics

The guest editor shall not attempt to influence the journal’s ranking by artificially increasing any journal metric.

Confidentiality

The guest editor should protect the confidentiality of all material submitted to the journal and all communications with reviewers.

Conflict of interest

The special issue may publish submissions from the guest editor but the number should be kept to the minimum necessary (based on journal policy). The guest editor must not be involved in decisions about papers in which s/he has written by him/herself. Peer review of any such submission should be handled independently of the relevant guest editor/co-editor and their research groups, and there should be a clear statement to this effect on any such paper that is published.
In addition, the Editor in Chief will also oversee the process and might be involved with the final step of the acceptance process for individual papers. In any debates on whether an individual item is to be accepted for publication, the Editor in Chief's decision is final.

Date of Publication

The date of publication will be 2 months from the date of submission of all the articles, copyright forms and transfer of APC-SI.
